Toronto, ON (August 12, 2019): Great Canadian Gaming Corporation (“Great Canadian”) is pleased to announce that the world-class gaming and entertainment destination located in Pickering, Ontario, in the eastern Greater Toronto Area (“GTA”), will be called Pickering Casino Resort. The resort will be a draw for all who enjoy exceptional service, thrilling gaming options, live entertainment and diverse dining experiences.

Construction of Pickering Casino Resort started last year and is projected to open in two phases.
The casino operator officially confirmed that Pickering Casino Resort is well-positioned for its official launch on April 8. With several weeks left until the tentative date, the construction on site continues at full speed, as the leading casino company is willing to welcome its patrons in a premium atmosphere. Great Canadian Gaming (GCG) has announced it will host the long-awaited grand opening of its newest casino next month. Situated just east of Toronto, the all new Pickering Casino is sure to attract a lot of attention from both locals and tourists. Construction crews are still on site, working at full speed to complete the final stages of the build. A major entertainment venue project is on track for the first phase of construction on a multi-purpose development in Pickering. The first part of the large-scale property will feature a casino.
The first phase is slated to open in early 2020 and will feature a number of gaming and dining options, while the second phase will include a full scope of entertainment amenities and hotel offerings. Once complete, the development will employ over 2,000 as part of the casino resort’s team.

One Toronto Gaming is a partnership between Great Canadian and Brookfield Business Partners (“Brookfield”) to operate gaming facilities located in the Greater Toronto Area, including Pickering Casino Resort. In August 2017, Great Canadian and Brookfield were selected as the successful proponents by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (“OLG”) to operate the three existing gaming facilities in the GTA, now branded as Casino Woodbine, Casino Ajax and Great Blue Heron Casino.

Initially, Great Canadian had scheduled to open the Casino towards the end of 2019; however, after a few unavoidable adjustments were made to the construction process, the grand opening got shifted to 2020. As at date, the first phase of the construction is officially over.
The construction project, which commenced the last year 2018, is supposed to be finished in two phases. The first phase is scheduled to be completed and opened in 2020 and is expected to feature a variety of dining and gaming options. The second phase of the project is expected to capture all entertainment amenities and hotel offerings. At the completion of the project, the development hopes to hire more than 2,000 people to join the casino resort's team, this would provide a much-needed boost to the local job economy and a good number of locals would benefit from this.

According to Waite, the focus when making appointments will be kept as local as possible. Once employees are hired, they would be expected to undergo rigorous and specialized training apprenticeship program to fully prepare themfor the employment of the operator.
